In the background of this page is reproduced a roman coin of 49 B.C. (Repubblican Period) of the Gens Acilia: on the right side the head of the Goddess of Health (Salus), on the obverse the goddess who feeds a snake, symbol of Asclepion (God of Medicine); the Acilia Gens, responsible of the mintage of this coin in the time of Julius Caesar, was proud to derive its name from the greek akeomai (Health).

The first physician arrived in Rome from Greece, obtained the leave to open an office at the ACILIUS Crossbreed in Rome, in 219 a.C. (During the II Punic War); the name of that physician was Arcagatus, son of Lisanious, from Peloponnesus.
